The original 1917 Morristown & Morris Township Library, now known as the Willis Wing, sustained significant damage following an explosion in 2012. The investigative process utilized available historic documentation and materials testing to determine original historic conditions. The work included structural repairs and installation of modern systems infrastructure to meet modern library needs. Reprogramming of the space permitted the return to an open stack plan allowing for the restoration of the original reading room spaces. Missing architectural features, finishes and millwork were replicated. All finishes reflect the original color scheme. This project received public grant funding.
