Situated in a forest at the end of a long unpaved lane, an existing cottage featured views to woodland lake, and offered the possibility for expansion and reconfiguration to suit the requirements of the very tall new owner. The original building, built in the 1940s, had small rooms and low door and window heads. The main program was for a new lodge comprised of a large central room with bedrooms off to each side for the client’s family and guests. An open kitchen allows for communal cooking as well as wonderful views.
