PRINCETON, NJ

The original Members’ Housing apartments at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) were designed by noted architect Marcel Breuer in 1957. Today, the complex is comprised of 169 units within 21 buildings. Modifications have occurred throughout the years causing the quality of the housing complex to decline. To study and address the situation, HMR was retained by IAS to complete a comprehensive program of improvements to the entire site. Spanning the course of several years, work includes a detailed conditions assessment followed by a renovation including interior finishes, new kitchens, acoustical improvements, and new furnishings.
