Home to the extensive Historical Studies and Social Sciences collections at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), this library has been altered by HMR multiple times. Renovations created a multi-media Seminar Room with a curved plaster ceiling and fabric wall panels designed for exceptional acoustics. Custom furniture includes a large wood table and console which contains a projection screen, writing surface, display monitors and integrated media technology. At the adjacent Archives Reading Room, HMR designed a unique display and work environment to research the contents of the library’s archives collections. In order to hold the expanding archives materials of IAS, a separate Archives Storage Facility addition was constructed to provide a secure, environmentally controlled home for the most valuable and delicate items.
