Gustav Stickley designed the 1911 Log House at Craftsman Farms to be the center of a proposed utopian community. Today, it anchors this National Historic Landmark site, which is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the Arts & Crafts movement in the United States. HMR Architects has supported this mission since 1993 through the completion of many preservation projects starting with the preparation of a Historic Structures Report and measured drawings. Subsequent projects have included structural repairs, roof replacements, several interior restorations and the installation of fire safety improvements. Our work today includes the preservation of additional site elements including the cottages and landscape. This project received public grant funding.
